I'll race you to 600 mi... I'm at 450 as of yesterday.
The BK is actually the first NEW vehicle - of any kind - I've ever bought, so I've never dealt with the 600 mi service.
I have heard the same about warranties not being honored, but I've never dealt with it personally. I have also heard of some horror stories with Suzuki's warranties and Zuk not playing nice with their customers. I think the key is having a dealership that's good to work with and will go to bat for you if need be.
As far as the warranty is concerned, I think if something went wrong, they'd have to prove that it was a result of missing/not performing the 600 mile service that caused whatever failure happened. I think that'd be a pretty hard task - especially if you can document having gone through the bike yourself, topping off fluids, changing oil, etc.
I'll probably pony up and pay for the 600mi service personally, not that it's nothing I couldn't do myself. I'm just getting lazy. LOL.
Side note - I changed the oil yesterday on the BK at about 325miles... I was AMAZED at how dirty it was already.
Also, New thing I learned... change the oil while the bike is HOT. I waited just long enough that the head pipes wouldn't burn me. The Owner's Manual says the bike will take 3300ml of oil with a filter change. I put 3700 in mine to FULL -and not because it was low before the oil change. It just drains that much better with the oil hot... *INSERT "HOT STUFF CAN BURN YOU" DISCLAIMER HERE*
