Insurance Options???

Alright Guys...

So, the one thing I didn't do before signing the dotted line on the b-king - check insurance rates. I "knew" I would be covered with Farmers - my current insurance company.

Well, as it turns out, according to my agent Farmers is no longer insuring motorcycles. They'll continue to hold existing policies, but won't issue new policies (or transfers for that matter). So, I'm insured through another company through my agent called "Foremost."

I'm not too worried about who insures me, BUT, with the new company, my rate more than doubled from the M109R to the BK. (from about $300 a year to over $700 for identical coverage)

Yes, I know that the BK is basically a Hayabusa in disguise - but it's listed as a "standard" by most accounts... so I should be able to avoid the sportbike premium.

Does anyone out there have good luck/rates with another company?

I would feel kinda bad for leaving my agent, because they have been really great for me over the years... but money talks.

So... Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tim

I've heard some good accounts of State Farm from others. I have Liberty Mutual for all my vehicles and home.

My rate for Sookie (BK) is $438 and for Ana Lucia (Warrior) is $328 annually. My '05 Busa was $438/yr when I had it over a year ago...
Of course you have to compare like coverage...IIRC mine is $100k/$300k w/ a $500 deductible...

Same here, with State Farm. '03 HD Road king and I'm $500 a year. The downside to State Farm is that their motorcycle policies don't get any perks like good driver, multi-line, etc.

Yeah... again... what Thom said...
(I really just want to be like Thom - that's why I got the BK too...)

BTW - I'd probably be looking at transferring my Renters and auto with the bike too to get a multi-line discount... so if a place is expensive for renters, but cheap on bikes, that would weigh in too...

Thanks guys

I actually have my Info in to a guy right now that does a search on places through my family owned company. Once I get a call back from him, I'll post it up. I have had no claims on anything in over 8 years and no tickets (if u can belive that) so I should b able to get the best pricing. State farm is raising everyones rates no matter who u r or how good your credit is. They r hurting for money. And they just jacked up my rates and other shit they have done. And I'm pissed. So let me see what my guy pulls up. My coverage on everything is all at a minimum of 300k/300k for my cars/bike/house.
