I might be taking some kids down to the shedd aquarium this month, or next, and my absolute favorite food is pizza! Last couple of times I was in Chicago - many years ago, I went out of my way to hit Father & Son pizza. Best pizza I ever had, on Milwaukee st. I think. Anybody go there and is it still pretty good? I LOVE the thick crust/deep dish stuff. I'll be coming down from WI.
Any other really great pizza places you guys would recommend? ![]() |

Lou Malnati's is always really good.
Chicago oven pizza grinder is awesome. they have a flat bread appetizer thats awesome. the pizza is unique. its like an upside down pizza baked in a bowl and flipped over at the table then the bowl is removed. check out their website. Chicago Pizza And Oven Grinder Co. |

If you want deep dish go to Calo's CALOS RISTORANTE on N. Clark. Damn I miss it.

Pizzeria Uno's or Pizzeria Due's (Same Family)... Wabash and Ohio or Wabash and Ontario respectively (like 200' from one door to the next)
Really good Chicago Style Pizza Agree with Benzo - Malnati's is good too.

All of the above mentiones places are good, but my favorite is Beggar's Pizza. They have a few locations in the south suburbs.

How about Home Run Inn? Several locations in and around Chicago. A few months back I had great thin crust pizza at Hawkeyes in Chicago on Taylor Street, was blown away how good it was for a bar. Home ~ Event Calendar ~ Event Sh Last edited by StilCrazee; 02-03-2010 at 03:11 PM.. |

First, welcome to the site.
Second, you are going to get as many different answers as you will people who answer. Besides the places already mentioned, you might even look up the chain Giordano's. They have some of the thickest stuffed pizza around.

John's right. Lots of suggestions, and Giordano's is great.
Just stay clear of Little Ceasar's and Dominos and you'll be OK.

Father and Son is now called Marcello's, but it is still the same great pizza. There is now also a location on North Avenue close to Old Town that has a nice restaurant area. Since I moved out of downtown last fall, I have finally discovered this Beggars Pizza I heard so many south siders talk about and I give it a big thumbs up. Then, you can always do the touristy thing and hit Geno's East on Ontario if you like the deep dish thing and Uno & Due are too crowded as per usual...............
